Laodice IV was a queen of the Seleucid Empire who lived during the 3rd century BC. She was the daughter of King Antiochus III and the sister of King Seleucus IV. She was married to her cousin, King Antiochus IV, who was known for his aggressive policies towards the Jews.
Laodice IV was the mother of two kings, Antiochus V Eupator and Demetrius I Soter. During the reign of her husband, she played an important role in the court and acted as an advisor to him. After Antiochus IV died, she became the regent for her young son, Antiochus V.
Unfortunately, her reign as regent was short-lived as she was quickly deposed by her own son, who wanted to rule on his own. She was exiled to Ephesus, where she lived out the rest of her life. There is not much known about her personal life or her accomplishments, but she remains an important figure in the history of the Seleucid Empire.
